About

Born in Shantou, China, in 1947, Lim Kay Hiong's love for art began at a young age and it continued to grow after his migration to Singapore in 1953. His formal training in painting started when he studied traditional Chinese ink painting under Fan Chang Tien and See Hiang To, both renowned Singapore pioneer artists. He also studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) where he learned Western painting and theory, graduating in 1966.

He also led several art societies and groups including The Hua Han Art Society, The Society of Chinese Artists and the Federation of Art Societies (Singapore). He was a former NAFA board member as well.

With his distinctive painting style and good choice of subject matter, recognition for Lim's works extends overseas. In 2005, he was given a merit award at the First International Chinese Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting & Seal-carving grand exhibition held in Beijing.

His paintings have been exhibited throughout Southeast Asia and are collected in many parts of the world - spreading his timeless art pieces of oriental culture across the globe.
